IRCC held its third Express Entry draw in as many days on August 6, this time targeting candidates with French-language proficiency. A total of 5,000 invitations to apply went out, making it one of the largest category-based rounds of the year so far.

The CRS cutoff for this draw came in at 391, the lowest score recorded for the French-language category at any point in 2026. This marks draw #433 overall and the 9th French-language round of the year, pushing 2026's cumulative Express Entry invitations to 111,123.

Draw Details:

✅ Invitation Round: #433

✅ Date of Round: August 6, 2026

✅ Type of Draw: French-Language proficiency

✅ Number of ITAs Issued: 5,000

✅ CRS Score of Lowest-Ranked Candidate Invited: 391

✅ Tie-Breaking Rule: March 18, 2026 at 23:32:40 UTC

French-language proficiency draws invite candidates who have demonstrated a Niveau de Compétence Linguistique Canadien (NCLC) level 7 or higher in French, tested through either the TEF Canada or TCF Canada exams.

This category was introduced to help meet Canada's francophone immigration targets outside Quebec, and it's become one of the most accessible entry points into Express Entry precisely because its CRS threshold sits so far below other streams. A candidate can qualify here with a score more than 100 points lower than what CEC currently demands.

Overview of the Draw

The headline number is the cutoff. At 391, it dropped noticeably from the 420 peak seen in early July, sliding to 399 by July 22 and now settling even lower. That's a fairly steep decline over just a few weeks, and it suggests the pool of French-proficient candidates hasn't been refilling as quickly as IRCC is inviting them.

Combined with the CEC round from the day before, this draw brings three separate invitation rounds within a single three-day stretch, a pace that signals IRCC is actively working through its 2026 targets rather than easing off as the year moves into its second half.

Together, CEC and French-language draws now account for over four-fifths of every invitation issued in 2026, leaving general and other program-specific rounds with a shrinking share.

Impact on Immigration

For candidates with an NCLC 7 French result already in hand, this is arguably the best month of 2026 to be in the pool; cutoffs haven't been this forgiving all year. Anyone sitting near the 390 mark should treat this as a strong signal to make sure their profile is current and accurate before the next round.

Processing for this stream typically runs six to eight months, so most candidates invited this week should expect PR confirmation sometime between February and April 2027.
