For candidates already sitting in the pool with a CRS score above 516, this draw is good news, another opportunity has come and gone without the bar rising. But for those hovering just below that line, the story is less encouraging. With CEC cutoffs proving this sticky, waiting for a lucky dip in scores may not be a viable strategy anymore.
Processing times remain a separate concern. CEC applications currently take around six to seven months to move from ITA to permanent residency approval, which means most candidates invited in this round shouldn't expect their PR confirmation before early 2027.
The bigger picture for prospective immigrants is that Canadian work experience continues to be the single most reliable route into the Express Entry system. With CEC absorbing such a large share of total invitations, candidates without Canadian employment history may find themselves at a growing disadvantage unless they qualify through other streams like provincial nominations or French-language proficiency, both of which carry very different score requirements.
