The present Express Entry draw is the fourth of the month. The last Express Entry draw was issued on August 15 and was a class-based determination draw for those qualified for the French-speakers capability classification.

The same week, there were two more draws. Canada invited 763 candidates for a PNP-only draw on August 13. To be considered, candidates needed a score of at least 690. 3,200 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with a minimum score of 509 were selected in a draw on August 14.

IRCC has recently fostered an example of holding numerous draws every other week. There has been a rise in the number of PNP and CEC draws, particularly in recent months. This is in line with the department's priority to hold more domestic draws to achieve the permanent resident admissions targets outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026 and reduce the number of temporary residents in Canada.

IRCC is planning to invite 110,770 new applicants through Express Entry in 2024 and 117,500 in 2025. Applicants who receive ITAs in the latter half of the year are bound to assist with meeting the 2025 objective because IRCC has a help standard of a half year to handle all concluded Express Entry applications.

What is an Express Entry?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class are three prominent economic immigration class programs that Express Entry manages.

Candidates in these programs are assessed and positioned on human resources factors utilizing the Exhaustive Positioning Framework. In addition to other factors like whether they are immigrating with a spouse or partner or if they have a sibling in Canada, they receive scores for their occupation, work experience, age, education, language proficiency, and occupation.

The points they get for each variable are added together and make up a general CRS score. In an upcoming Express Entry draw, applicants with the highest scores will most likely receive an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence in Canada. In May 2023, IRCC announced it would start holding class-based rounds of invitations for Express Entry applicants who meet specific measures because of their occupation or language abilities.

The new surge in Express Entry reflects the trends found in July, a month that set standards with worth of 25,000 ITAs conveyed across nine particular draws. Since the system's inception in 2015, July has been the busiest month for Express Entry draws, a significant improvement from June, when there was only one draw.

July's draws were different, with four dedicated to explicit classes. Two of these designated applicants with French language capability, and the July 18 draw for French speakers had the most minimal CRS score of the month at 400. Healthcare professionals and tradespeople were the focus of the other two category-based draws.

Of the nine draws in July, two were focused on the Canadian Experience Class applicants, while three Chose one PNP Program. The most elevated CRS score recorded for PNP applicants was 739 on July 2. The expansion in program-explicit draws this month highlights IRCC's essential shift towards more designated determination processes.

This change follows a time of general and classification-based draws throughout the last year, mirroring a more extensive technique to zero in additional homegrown competitors and decrease the number of brief occupants. The change is aligned with the IRCC's ongoing efforts to effectively manage immigration levels and meet its admission targets for permanent residents. As the migration scene keeps on developing, the IRCC stays focused on adjusting its methodologies to address Canada's changing necessities and needs.
